WILSON, Roderick Arnold, Ch Sto, 21498, RCN, MPK - 07 May 1944, HMCS VALLEYFIELD - Son of Percy W. and Nellie Wilson, of Victoria, British Columbia; husband of Helen E. Wilson, of Vancouver, British Columbia.
Chief Stoker Wilson died when his ship, HMCS VALLEYFIELD, was torpedoed and sunk on 07 May 1944 by U-548. Of her crew of 163, there were only 38 survivors.
Chief Stoker Roderick Arnold Wilson son of Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Wilson, Regina, has been killed in action overseas, according to his wife, the former Irene Carlisle, of Griswold, Manitoba. Chief Stoker Wilson was born and educated at Regina. He enlisted at the age of 18, and had been on active service for four years, during which he saw action in the north Atlantic and in the Normandy campaign. Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by a sister, Marjorie, who lives with her parents at Regina.
