HALDANE, Robert J. - It is with sadness we announce the passing of a great man. Bob passed away in the Saanich Peninsula Extended Care where he battled cancer bravely. Bob was born in Calgary AB into a large family of 7 boys and 5 girls. He joined the navy at a young age and had a rewarding 24-year career. After the Navy, he worked for the Water District for another 24 years. Bob was married and raised their 3 sons, Don and his wife Olean, Mike and wife Cory, and Fred. Bob leaves behind many grandchildren and a large extended family carrying his name. Later, Bob met Linda Carter and they had a wonderful relationship for 30 years. Bob was talented in sports and received many trophies. He played as a pitcher on the baseball field and later he became an avid golfer. When Bob retired, he volunteered his time in many organizations including God's Acre, Dockers Club and the Legion #172. He was also the president of the Esquimalt Seniors group. He was always busy helping someone. Bob will be interred in the Columbarium at God's Acre. (The Victoria Times Colonist 04 Oct 2024)
