John was the son of John William Parrish and Jeanette Mary Williams. He married Annette Julia Drohan on 28 Jun 1943, Sydney, Nova Scotia.  At the time of his marriage he resided at Flat Point, New Victoria, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
