CARROLL, James D. - 55, 1 Dufferin St., Truro, died June 17, 1996, in New Hampshire. Born in New Annan, he was the third son of the late Erwin and Marian (Matheson) Carroll. He had recently retired after 38 years service with the Canadian Armed Forces (Navy). He held various positions on land and spent 23 years at sea onboard 12 ships. He was Command Chief of Maritime Command and was appointed Canadian Forces Chief Warrant Officer in July of 1991, serving in this position until July 1995. He was a member of St. Andrew's United Church, Truro; Boatswain Association Atlantic; Atlantic Chief and Petty Officers Association; Cobequid Christmas Tree Producers Association; Royal Canadian Legion Branch 26 and Truro Gyro Club. Surviving are his wife, Marilyn (Little); sons, Derrick, Truro; Trevor, Ottawa; daughter, Lori (Mrs. Scott MacLaughlin), Toronto; sisters, Mars. Mary Leppar, Tatamagouche, Mrs. Norma Swan, Dartmouth; Shirley (Mrs. Mervyn Ferguson), Belmont; brothers, Douglas, London, Ont.; Jack, Truro. Memorial service Friday in St. Andrew's United Church, Truro, Rev. Margaret Sagar officiating. No flowers by request. Donations to James Carroll Trust Fund c/o St. Andrew's United Church, P.O.
