Donald Robert Saker

Born: 27 May 1947

 

Died: 18 Jan 1998, Sidney, BC

 

SAKER, Donald - suddenly on 18 January 1998 aged 50 years of Sydney, B.C. He is survived b his loving wife of 28 years Pat, children Gordon, Kirk and Jennifer, his parents Helen & Robert,, sisters Lois and Laura, Surry, B.C. and his brothers Rory and Lee of London,, Ontario, granddaughter Chanal Dom Lily Saker, grandson Jesse and Don's extended family. Don's Naval career spanned 22 years. He served on various military vessels including submarines and the Aircraft Carrier Bonaventure plus numerous Destroyers and Mine Sweepers. He was promoted through the ranks from Ordinary Seamen to Petty Officer. He enjoyed the whole outdoors particularly hunting and fishing. A funeral service will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel 1803 Quadra Street, Victoria, B.C. on Thursday 22 January at 2:00 pm, Padre Bishop Stephen Young officiating. Flowers would be appreciated however if friends so wish donations in Don's memory may be made to the Canadian Charities Association. Sands of Victoria. Don will be buried at Valley View Memorial Gardens, Surry, B.C. at a later date.
