MASSENDER, Cecil Nelson - A resident of Chatham, Cecil Massender passed away at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on August 27, 2023 at the age of 91.
Born in Howard Township, Cecil was the son of the late Floyd and Annie (née Bailey) Massender.
Beloved husband of 27 years plus 10 years to Mary Massender (née Bennett).
Dear father of Janet Massender, Joanne Baker (Brian), Cherrie Jacques (Pete) and Robert Lodewegen (Tammy). Proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by his sisters Kathleen Minshall, Eleanor Smith, Elizabeth (Beth) Fraser; and brothers George, Everitt, James (Jim), Joseph, Doug and Larry.
Cecil will also be dearly missed by several nieces, nephews, special friends from the NAVY, the Royal Canadian Legion and his Church family.
Cecil was a Letter Carrier then a Superintendent with Canada Post for many years before his retirement.
Family and friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service to celebrate Cecil's life will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Maple City Baptist Church, 500 Indian Creek Rd. W., Chatham at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.
