HARVEY, Stanley Frederick, PO HSD, V23128, RCNVR, MPK - 07 May 1944, HMCS VALLEYFIELD - Son of Frederick and Constance Annie Harvey, of Verdun, Quebec.
Petty Officer Harvey died when his ship, HMCS VALLEYFIELD, was torpedoed and sunk on 07 May 1944 by U-548. Of her crew of 163, there were only 38 survivors.
Petty Officer Stanley Frederick Harvey of Verdun, Québec, who was reported missing after the sinking of HMCS Valleyfield was to have married Miss Jean Spencer, 37 North Street, on his next trip to Halifax. Petty Officer Harvey has been in the navy for some time and was well known in Halifax.
