In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
CURRIE, Donald Patrick - 69, 9 Alan St., Lower Sackville, died Monday at home. Born in Wadena, Sask., he was a son of Beatrice (Williams) Currie, Lindsay, Ont., and the late George Currie. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Royal Canadian Navy 1936-1956, retired as a Chief Petty Officer 2nd Class. He was one of the few survivors of the sinking of HMCS Ottawa and a former employee of the Bedford Institue. He is survived by a daughter, Deanne (Mrs. Chester Wood), Beaver Bank; three sons, Donald, Bedford; David, Lower Sackville; Maurice, Halifax; a sister, Florence de Jauire, Lindsay, Ont.; a brother, Hubert, Toronto; three grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Juliette Dube; two brothers, Dr. Edward, William. The body is in Atlantic Funeral Home, Sackville, visiting 204, 7-9 p.m. today and Thursday. Funeral will be held 10 a.m. Friday, St. John Vianney Church, Lower Sackville. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the new M.I.R.
