MERSEREAU, LeBaron Foster (Barry) - It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of LeBaron F Mersereau, at the age of 97. Born in Fredericton Junction, New Brunswick on April 21, 1927, to his mother Grace and father Austin; raised by his grandmother Maggie after the early passing of his mother.

LeBaron left his home to join the Canadian Navy in 1944, first turned away for being underage, only to return a year later with a letter of approval from his father With sailing the Buckingham, St Laurent, Haida, Cayuga and Chaleur; two trips to Korea, stationed at bases in Stadacona, Shelburne, and Cornwallis, he didn't only travel around this world once, but twice. A proud Veteran who served in the Second World War and the Korean War A man who truly loved sailing the seas. After 22 years of service, he held a 20-year career with the Halifax Dockyard as an engine fitter and project planner. After retirement he spent the next 37 years with his family, giving those he loved many memories. Though he left home as a young teenager, LeBaron never forgot "where he came from", returning to Fredericton Junction every summer.

Barry shared 65 wonderful years with the love of his life, his wife and best friend, June. They enjoyed playing cards, fishing, camping, golfing and some would argue too many evenings at the casino together His life was lived with her by his side. A love story that cannot be told without heartache or sacrifice; but forever an example of what a lifetime of love looks like to those who adored them most. A man of few words, June did enough talking for the two of them, but when he spoke, he was heard, respected and honoured.

Many wonder the secret to his long life, those who loved him most believe it to be his daily morning orange, cut just right with a pinch of sugar.

Survived by wife, June; children, Leanna (Harold), Aaron (Leah), Francine (special son in law Gordie), Kevin; stepson, Robert; daughter-in- law, Cheryl; grandchildren, Lee, Neil, Nicole, Karen, Cory, Jessica, Lindsay and many great grandchildren.

Predeceased by sons, Barry Lee, Kirk, Randy; sister, Doris Novacek; mother, Grace (Burtt) and father, Austin.

The family sends a heartfelt "Thank you" to homecare worker Rajinder Kaur.

You will forever be a legend within our family, deeply loved and missed beyond words. Dad, consider your bill paid in full.
