JOHNSON, Elswood Svein, AB, V16839, RCNVR, MPK - 29 Apr 1944, HMCS ATHABASKAN - Son of Svein and Mathilda Johnson, of Edmonton, Alberta. He was the son of Svein and Mathilda Johnson who moved to Edmonton in 1932. Elswood was born at Saskatoon and was working as a telegraph messenger for Northern Alberta Railways when he enlisted on April 29, 1942 at Edmonton. His brother Halldor Johnson also served in the Navy.

 

AB Johnson died when his ship, HMCS ATHABASKAN G07, was sunk in the English Channel on April 29, 1944.
