ROWLAND, Arthur Francis - In Victoria, BC, after a long, courageous battle with heart disease. Predeceased by his wife, Holly, and son, Arthur Greer, he is survived by daughter Kerry, sister of Charity, and by nephew Leonard Arthur (Suzanne). He was a Lieut. Cmdr. in the Royal Canadian Navy, a WWII veteran who served in the UK, on the Mediterranean, and in the Normandy landings on D Day; later, as aide-de-camp to the Lieut. Governor of Nova Scotia. Family and close friends knew him as a gardener, reader, walker, and quietly knowledgeable man of integrity. Unknown to most was his generosity to charity. Gratitude goes out to Armande Morton and the Franciscan chapel community, Julie Gray and # 280 neighbors, Dr. Darcy Neilsen, and staff and volunteers of Parkwood Place, Beacon Community Services, and Victoria Hospice. Following cremation, a Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Joseph Friary, 1076 Joan Crescent, on Thursday, 28 September, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. Reception will follow. Flowers are gratefully declined. Instead, please do a kindness to someone in need.
