In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
MACKAY, Roy J. - With saddened hearts and fond memories, we say goodbye to our dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle, father-in-law, brother-in-law, companion, loyal friend, lover, paratrooper, sailor, paper boy, a devoted dog parent and to many, a hero. Roy shone brighter than all the stars. We will always remember his sense of humour, his positive character, his Irish singing and his legendary rum drinking, along with his dedicated but necessary exercise routine. He lived in the moment a genuine character, and a man who knew how to take a tumble, "it's all in the tuck and roll" he would say. Above all, we will miss his unique way of making us laugh.
Our family extends a special thank you to the wonderful folks at Broadmead Veterans Lodge (THE JOINT) in Victoria. The staff, fellow residents and his companion were so much more than caregivers and neighbours. They were special friends.
