MENZIES, Joseph Blair, CPO ERA 3c, V44690, RCNVR, MPK - 07 May 1944, HMCS VALLEYFIELD - Son of John A. and Anita Menzies, of Montreal, Province of Quebec.
Engine Room Artificer Menzies died when his ship, HMCS VALLEYFIELD, was torpedoed and sunk on 07 May 1944 by U-548. Of her crew of 163, there were only 38 survivors. He was born in Valleyfield, Quebec and received his education at West Hill High School. Besides his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. R. H. Bowden and Mrs. R. M. Drennan, Montréal.
