Joseph Ernest Leary, M.I.D., LS & GC

 

Chief Petty Officer 1st Class Quartermaster Instructor TG4, RCN

 

Died: 13 May 1992, White Rock, British Columbia, Canada

 

LEARY, Joseph Ernest - passed away on May 13, 1992 at Peace Arch Hospital, at the age of 71. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret (Betty) on April 20, 1990. He is survived by his daughter, Juliana; his son, James and three step-children, Ann, Jane, Robin, as well as his brother, Jack and wife Irene; his aunt, Georgina Leary. Joseph was a veteran of the Canadian Navy serving 19 or his 20 years at sea. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. During this time he had the most active war time hours in the Canadian Navy. Memorial service will be held at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, (corner of Roper and Best) in White Rock on Saturday, May 16, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Leary, Joseph Ernest, CPO, Mentioned in Despatches, RCN - CPO Leary spent two tours of duty in Korean waters as Coxswain of HMCS NOOTKA.
