In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
GUATTO, Dolfo (Al) - In the early morning hours of May 10, 2021 Dolfo (Al) Guatto passed away.
With great affection we remember the man Al was. Whether you remember him as Al, Dad, grandpa, GG, brother or as a friend there is no denying what a special person he was.
The youngest of seven children he was born in Windsor Ontario where he stayed until 1942 when he volunteered for the RCNVR and served at sea doing escort duty in the north Atlantic. Upon returning from the war he met his beautiful wife Virginia and they started their family.
After marrying they had three children, Patricia and Tommy, both born in Windsor. Then in 1956 came Wayne, born in Halifax.
In 1977 Al and Virgie relocated to Vancouver Island where he enjoyed many years of retirement.
Al was an amazing craftsman with a talent for carpentry, a (retired) hockey goalie, a connoisseur of not so fine beers and just all around great guy. Virginia, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will look back with fondness at a life well lived and cherish the memories of a wonderful man who will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date. (The Cowichan Valley Citizen 10 May 2021)
