RIDOUT, William George, Lt, RCNVR, MPK - 07 May 1944, HMCS VALLEYFIELD - Son of the Revd. Denzil G. Ridout and Margaret Ridout, of Islington, Ontario.
Lieutenant Ridout died when his ship, HMCS VALLEYFIELD, was torpedoed and sunk on 07 May 1944 by U-548. Of her crew of 163, there were only 38 survivors.
Lieutenant William George Ridout son of Rev. Denzil J. and Mrs. Ridout of Burnhamthorpe Rd., have been advised that their son, Lieut. William G. Ridout is "missing at sea". His younger brother, Sub-Lieut. Donald Ridout is now home on leave following his recent graduation from H.M.C.S. Cornwallis. The other members of the family include Jimmy Ridout, a student at Etobicoke high school, Islington, and Mrs. Donald Simpson of Islington, a sister.
