RANDALL, Walter Gordon, LS QR II, 4323, RCN, MPK - 07 May 1944, HMCS VALLEYFIELD - Son of Sydney George and Isabelle Ruth Randall, of Victoria, British Columbia.
Leading Seaman Randall died when his ship, HMCS VALLEYFIELD, was torpedoed and sunk on 07 May 1944 by U-548. Of her crew of 163, there were only 38 survivors.
Son of Sydney George and Isabelle Ruth Randall, of Victoria, BC.Leading Seaman Walter Gordon Randall, formerly of St. James, was one of the sailors lost at sea when HMCS Valleyfield was torpedoed. Born in St. James, Manitoba, he attended Assiniboine school prior to moving to Victoria, British Columbia with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. G. Randall, in 1939. Enlisting in the navy as a boy seaman in 1941, he had risen to the rank of Leading Seaman when reported lost. Besides his parents, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. John Mitchell of Victoria. An Uncle, F. A. Randall. Lives at suite 19, Vesta apartments, Winnipeg.
