They made the Ultimate Sacrifice
TODOS, William, AB, 3398, RCN, MPK - 22 Oct 1940, HMCS MARGAREE - Son of Roman Todos, and of Mary Todos, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Able Seaman Todos died when his ship, HMCS MARGAREE, was struck by the freighter SS Port Fairy while in convoy and was sunk. 143 of her crew were lost, 86 of them were survivors of HMCS FRASER.
Able Seaman William Todos, age 21, son of Mrs. Mary Todos, Regina. He was on HMCS Fraser when it was sunk and he was in hospital for 22 weeks with a broken arm, ribs and injuries to his head. His mother received his last letter yesterday, shortly before a wire informing her he was missing and believed lost at sea. The letter said he was feeling swell after his long rest in hospital and that old country people treated him very well. He was a student when he enlisted on April 24, 1939 at Esquimalt, British Columbia.
