Son of Joseph Alfred Dondaneau and Myrtle Woodward. Francis served in the RCN for 13 years. He is buried in the Mountain View Cemetery, Vancouver, British Columbia.

Francis' brother, Clarence F. Dondaneau also served in the RCN.
