PEDWELL, Jack Aldon L/Sto, A4506, RCNR, MPK - 07 May 1944, HMCS VALLEYFIELD - Son of Amelia Pedwell, of Owen Sound, Ontario.

 

Leading Stoker Pedwell died when his ship, HMCS VALLEYFIELD, was torpedoed and sunk on 07 May 1944 by U-548. Of her crew of 163, there were only 38 survivors.

 

Leading Stoker Jack Alden Pedwell of Owen Sound was reported missing at sea. He was transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy after serving with the Canadian Army. He is the son of Mrs. Amelia Pedwell. He was a Great Lake sailor. In 1940 he enlisted with the Irish Regiment in Toronto. Since 1941 he has served in the Atlantic and Mediterranean. A brother, Douglas Pedwell, is overseas.
