MULCAHY, Daniel, Sto 1c, V35412, RCNVR MPK - 07 May 1944, HMCS VALLEYFIELD - Son of Kate Mulcahy, of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Stoker Mulcahy died when his ship, HMCS VALLEYFIELD, was torpedoed and sunk on 07 May 1944 by U-548. Of her crew of 163, there were only 38 survivors.
Daniel Mulcahy was a former Free Press carrier and received his education at Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. Prior to enlisting, he was employed by a transportation company. Stoker Mulcahy enlisted with the R.C.N.V.R. in May, 1942. Besides his mother he is survived by a sister, Violet, at home and a brother, William of Vancouver. Mulcahy Lake, west of Southern Indian Lake was named after him in 1963.
