SILLERS, John Alfred (Jack), Tel, V17305, RCNVR, MPK - 07 May 1944, HMCS VALLEYFIELD - Son of William John and Marion Sillers, of Woodstock, Ontario. He attended Loren Avenue Public School and Sir Adam Beck Collegiate. Prior to enlisting in the navy he worked as telegraph operator with Canadian Pacific Telegraph.
Telegraphist Sillers died when his ship, HMCS VALLEYFIELD, was torpedoed and sunk on 07 May 1944 by U-548. Of her crew of 163, there were only 38 survivors.
