BISSELL, Philip, G. - died January 12, 2019 at the age of 92. He lived a remarkable life of generous service to his family, the community, and our country. Predeceased by his first wife Catherine, sister "Bunty" and daughter Lynn. Survived by his wife Dorothy, sons Bruce of Victoria, Christopher of London, England, step-children, Marilyn Campbell (Howard) and Ross Brain (Kerri) both of Victoria. Phil was proud of his six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Born in Rossland, BC in 1926 but schooled in Turner Valley, Alberta. Joined the RCN as an Ordinary Seaman in Calgary in 1944. Served on nine different HMC ships and ashore in Halifax, Esquimalt, United Kingdom and Washington, DC retiring in 1977. Past president and life member of the Naval Officers Association of Vancouver Island, member of the Chiefs and Petty Officers' Association, member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 172, Esquimalt, past president and member of the Victoria Chapter ALS Society, and past member of the Oak Bay Lawn Bowling Club. A celebration of his life will be in the chapel at St. Mary's Church, 1701 Elgin Road, Victoria, Saturday, January 19th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, support of the Victoria ALS Chapter or The Lodge at Broadmead would be appreciated. Funeral Home. (Victoria Times Colonist 17 Jan 2019)
