In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
COADE, Vincent Paul - It is with a very heavy heart we announce that our father, Paul Coade, CD., passed away peacefully at home on April 30, 2023. Born on March 11, 1931 in Halifax, he was the eldest son of Vincent Leo and Jessie Alexis Coade. He is survived by his sisters, Bridget (Wayne) Purcell, Jessie (Charlie) Fox both of Tatamagouche; and brother, Peter Coade of Tantallon. He was predeceased by his sister, Jane Carter, with his brother-in-law Ted still living in Alberta. Paul joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1948. In 1954, while Paul’s ship, The HMCS Magnificent was stationed in Portsmith, England, he met the love of his life Patricia, who followed him back to Halifax at the age of 17. Paul unfortunately lost Patricia due to cancer in March of 2022, after having been happily married for 67 years. Together, they had seven loving children, Angela (Brian) Chutskoff, Christine (Terry, deceased) Campbell, Melissa (Peter) Drillio, Patricia (Greg) Swinimer, and Vincent Coade. He was predeceased by daughters, Bonita Coade and Jessie Young. Throughout his navy career, Paul also served on the Bonaventure, Preserver, Provider and the Protecteur. Paul retired from the Armed Forces in 1979 and he continued his career in aerospace at IMP where he was employed for 25 years in the avionics department. Paul leaves behind a loving legacy of 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren to date, as well as many nieces and nephews. There was nothing Paul loved more than his family and it was very important to him to remain at home surrounded by his loved ones. Memories of Paul will be fondly cherished by everyone who knew him. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. (The Saltwire Network 09 May 2023)
