In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
MURRAY, Allan L. (Al) - A trusty shellback crossed the bar on Saturday, December 10th.
Born in London, Ontario on June 22 1939 and grew up in Tilbury, Ontario.
He was a son of the late John and Lyda (Petherick) Murray.
Allan enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy on August 22, 1958 as an electrician; and was transferred to Sonar man and finally to NAC OP. He served in HMCS Micmac, Cayuga, Kootenay, Nipigon (2), Annapolis (2), Ottawa and Protecteur; retiring in October 1992. Allan enjoyed playing various sports in his younger years; he played darts and billiards almost to the end. He learned to be a handyman around the house; willing to tackle most problems; enjoyed making sawdust as he called it when doing woodworking or building something and was happy to be outside doing yard work and tending flower beds. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 006 Kentville.
Left with many loving memories are his wife Madeline (Lunn); son Robert and wife Rachael (Grant); son Ronald; granddaughter Shayna; grandson Jeremy; great grandson Deklan and sister Helen.
Predeceased by brothers Gerald, Gordon and Ted.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation.
A graveside service will take place on Thursday, December 15 at 1pm from Oakridge Memorial Gardens, (Structure 82 in Memories Garden).
A reception will follow in the Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Drive from 2-4pm.
