SPINKS, Wesley Allen - enlisted in the RCNVR at HMCS YORK in 1943. After the war he enlisted in the RCAF and served as a firefighter at CFB Mountainview for 25 years. Wesley was born to John And Mary Spinks in 1921 in Toronto, Ontario. He also had two brothers as well 5 sisters. In 1943 Wesley signed up at HMCS YORK. After new entry training he was drafted to HMCS CORNWALLIS for training as a Stoker and boiler room watchkeeper. Upon completion of trades training he was drafted to HMCS LETHBRIDGE where he served until near the end of the Second World War. He did a short stint at HMCS SCOTIAN before being drafted to HMCS OUTREMONT and served in her till August 10, 1945. In 1946 he married Marnie Smith, they had 3 boys John, Jory and Jimmy. In 1951 Wesley re-signed with the military - this time with the RCAF. The family moved to Belleville area where he served at CFB Mountain View as a Fireman until his retirement in 1985. Afterwards he and Marnie moved to Tweed, Ontario where they lived until his passing in 1991. He will be sorely missed by his family and we will remember.
