ELLIOTT, Odin Arthur, AB, A4441, RCNR, died 14 Apr 1943, HDC 15 (HMCS CAPTOR) - Born 01 Oct 1921, son of Mrs. Daisy Elliott, Apple river, Cumberland Co., NS; husband of Beulah R. Elliott, of Halifax, NS.
Able Seaman Elliott died when his ship, HDPC D15, capsized and sank in the main channel at the entrance to Saint John Harbour, NB, during a storm on 14 Apr 1943. His body was recovered after it washed ashore and he was buried in the Fairview Cemetery, Halifax, NS.
Able Seaman Arthur O. Elliott, R.C.N.V.R., of Apple River, N.S., came to Saint John on Dec. 28, 1942, having been transferred here from Halifax. While in Saint John he and his wife, the former Miss Beulah Levy, of Halifax, resided at 45 Garden Street. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Elliott, Apple River, and prior to joining the Canadian Navy in March, 1939 he was at sea for years, sailing from Maritime centres to United States ports. He was 21 years of age. Besides his wife, to whom he was married last March, he is survived by his parents, two brothers, Victor and Richard, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Roy McWharter, Apple River, and Mrs. Clarence Allen, Parrsboro, Nova, Scotia.
