NEWMAN, Harry Douglas (Doug) - was born in Montreal, Quebec May 28, 1919. Passed away in North Vancouver BC February 2, 2013. Predeceased by his wife Winnie February 2011 and brother Smeaton December 1999. Survived by his loving family, son Brian (Yolanda), daughter Donna (Don Ehl); grandchildren Cristina (Dylan Drego), Lisa, Matthew, Mark and great grandson Maximilian. Doug was also a Royal Canadian Navy Veteran and served over 5 years on the North Atlantic Convoy Patrol during WWII. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 2pm, First Memorial Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Alzheimer Society of BC or Kiwanis Care Centre, North Vancouver.

Webmaster's Note: For DN45 - the caption reads "HMCS NIAGARA Galley - 1941" - This looks like some form of shelter built on the upper decks for jury-rigged galley. There is a a stove and you can see the stove pipe and what look to be a tea pop on it. Perhaps work was being done in the ship's galley and the built this on the upper decks to make basic meals.
