WATKINS, Harry, Sig, 3031, RCN, MPK - 22 Oct 1940, HMCS MARGAREE - Son of George and Harriett Watkins, of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Harry Watkins graduated from Kelvin High School in Winnipeg in June 1936 and he joined the joined the RCN in Jul 1937 at the age of 17 as a Boy Seaman.
Signalman Watkins died when his ship, HMCS MARGAREE, was struck by the freighter SS Port Fairy while in convoy and was sunk. 143 of her crew were lost, 86 of them were survivors of HMCS FRASER.
