In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
CAMPBELL, Hugh - 64 with CIL 30 years. A veteran of two wars and an executive of Canadian Industries Ltd, Hugh Campbell, 64, died Saturday at his Rossander Court home following a long illness.
Funeral service will be held tomorrow at 3 p.m. in the McDougall and Brown funeral chapel, Kingston Rd., Scarboro.
Born in Ardrosan. Scotland, Mr. Campbell graduated from the Royal Technical College, Glasgow.
During World War I he saw service in the British merchant marine. He was a Lt. Cmdr. in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II and won the Distinguished Service Cross.
He joined CIL in 1934 and held a number of administrative posts. For the past three years he was special assistant in the secretarial department in Montreal and assistant curator of the CIL art collection.
Mr. Campbell was a member of the Naval Officers club, the Marine club, St. Andrew's Society and the Toronto Gaelic club.
He is survived by his wife, the former Jean Yuille; four daughters; Mrs. Harold Preston of Streetsville; Mrs. Ivan Roome and Mrs. John Kerr of Scarboro; Mrs. D. Wilson of Sioux Lookout; a sister, Mrs. J. Cunningham in Scotland. and a brother, Ian, in Malta. (The Toronto Star 15 Jun 1964) (Click here to view the obituary as published)
