KYLE, Kenneth Harvey, AB LR III, 3182, RCN, MPK - 22 Oct 1940, HMCS MARGAREE - Son of John E. and Winnifred Kyle, of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
Able Seaman Kyle died when his ship, HMCS MARGAREE, was struck by the freighter SS Port Fairy while in convoy and was sunk. 143 of her crew were lost, 86 of them were survivors of HMCS FRASER.
Able Seaman Kenneth Harvey Kyle was born at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, April 09, 1920. He saw service in the Caribbean and was a survivor of the sinking of HMCS Fraser. He was the son of John E. and Winnifred Kyle. Kenneth attended King George School and Moose Jaw Tech (motor mechanics) and enlisted on June 06, 1938 at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. His sister Shirley joined the Canadian Women's Army Corps as soon as she was old enough in 1943. He is unmarried and is survived by his parents who reside at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
