HOLLOWAY, Arthur George, Cook (S), 40487, RCN, MPK - 22 Oct 1940, HMCS MARGAREE - Son of Arthur George and Elizabeth Holloway, of Victoria, British Columbia; husband of Theodosia B. Holloway, of Victoria.

 

Cook Holloway died when his ship, HMCS MARGAREE, was struck by the freighter SS Port Fairy while in convoy and was sunk. 143 of her crew were lost, 86 of them were survivors of HMCS FRASER.

 

Cook Arthur George Holloway, age 25 was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur George and Elizabeth Holloway, 214 Russell Street, of Victoria. He was born in Edmonton and had lived in Victoria 15 years, attending Boy's Central and Victoria West Schools. His wife Theodosia B. Holloway lives in Halifax. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Lula Gibberson, Victoria. He was an HMCS Fraser survivor only to be killed on the loss of HMCS Margaree. (Transcription of article from unknown newspaper)
