BURNETT, John Henry, Sto 2c, 21619, RCN, MPK - 22 Oct 1940, HMCS MARGAREE - Son of Evan A. Burnett, and of Jane Burnett, of Victoria, British Columbia.
Stoker Burnett died when his ship, HMCS MARGAREE, was struck by the freighter SS Port Fairy while in convoy and was sunk. 143 of her crew were lost, 86 of them were survivors of HMCS FRASER.
Stoker John Henry Burnett, age 20, was born in Victoria and joined the Navy in 1938. He was educated in Esquimalt. He joined the navy in July, 1938. He survived the sinking of HMCS Fraser and was later killed when HMCS Margaree went down.
