In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
FORD, Peter Alan Lea - Forever an officer and a gentleman, Peter was highly regarded for his steadfast belief in what was right and fair, for his commitment to his country, community and his family, and for his kind and patient nature.
He was proud to serve in the Canadian Armed Forces, Royal Canadian Navy, especially as Base Chief in Esquimalt. Peter was the model for the "Welcome Home" statue in Victoria's Inner Harbour and his manner of welcoming never waivered. He later worked in support of the MLA's in the Legislative Assembly of BC when the Chamber was sitting.
In his retirement he enjoyed live music and dancing and was an enthusiastic golfer at the Gorge Vale Golf Club. An exceptional host, many friends enjoyed his delicious baking while visiting in the beautiful gardens he helped create.
Peter shared life joyfully with his wife Anne-Marie and is deeply missed in his sudden passing by the Broadley, Ford, and Nicoll families. He was predeceased by his wife Karen Ford.
We have lost a fine, honorable, kind and loving man who we will remember always.
As he wished, Peter will formally be committed to the sea at a later date.
Please join us in a reception to celebrate Peter's life at the Gorge Vale Golf Club, 1005 Craigflower Rd, Victoria BC on Sunday, September 21, I - 4 pm. No flowers please but do bring a small card or email your favorite memory to HonouringPeterFord@gmail.com (The Victoria Times Colonist 29 Au8g 2025)
