HUOT, Robert, L/Ck (O), 40443, RCN, killed - 06 Sep 1940, HMCS MARGAREE - Son of Albert and Aline Huot; husband of Florence Elizabeth Huot, of Victoria, British Columbia.

Leading Cook Huot survived the sinking of HMCS FRASER.  On 06 Sep 1940, the day he was drafted to HMCS MARGAREE, he was killed during an enemy bombing raid.  He was walking with Able Seaman Edward McIldoon, also serving in HMCS MARGAREE, on Victoria Dock Road, Canning Town, London, England, when an enemy bomb fell and exploded in a house beside which they were walking. The wall of the house fell into the street covering Robert Huot with about 3 feet of debris. He was at once removed from this and taken to a first aid post in Dockland Settlement where he was pronounced dead on admission by the attending medical officer.  He was buried in Woodlands Cemetery, Gillingham, England.
