LOCKWOOD, Harold Laverne, OS, V65120, RCNVR, MPK - 07 May 1944, HMCS VALLEYFIELD - Son of George N. and Mabel Lockwood, of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
Ordinary Seaman Lockwood died when his ship, HMCS VALLEYFIELD, was torpedoed and sunk on 07 May 1944 by U-548. Of her crew of 163, there were only 38 survivors.
Ordinary Seaman Harold Laverne Lockwood of Moose Jaw was the son of George N. and Mabel Lockwood. Harold was born in Moose Jaw and worked as a salesman for Co-op Creameries when he enlisted on June 24, 1943 at Regina, HMCS Queen less than a year before his death. He was educated at the King George public school and Central Collegiate. Harold is survived by his parents, three brothers, LAC George Lockwood in R.C.A.F. overseas; Douglas and Lloyd.
