LAYTON, Paul Chisholm, L/Writer, V25279, RCNVR, MPK - 07 May 1944, HMCS VALLEYFIELD - Son of Max MacDonald Layton and Florence C. Layton, of Great Village, Nova Scotia. Paul was born and raised at Great Village, Nova Scotia and he was working for the Royal Bank when he enlisted in the RCNVR at Halifax, Nova Scotia.

 

Leading Writer Layton died when his ship, HMCS VALLEYFIELD, was torpedoed and sunk on 07 May 1944 by U-548. Of her crew of 163, there were only 38 survivors.
