HOFFMAN, Martin John, OA 4c, V38568, RCNVR, killed - 07 May 1944, HMCS VALLEYFIELD - Son of Alex and Margaret Hoffman, of Sandwich East, Ontario; husband of Jane Hoffman of Windsor, Ontario.
Ordnance Artificer Hoffman died when his ship, HMCS VALLEYFIELD, was torpedoed and sunk on 07 May 1944 by U-548. Of her crew of 163, there were only 38 survivors. His body was recovered and he was buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, St. John's, Newfoundland.
