KATTLER, Michael J. - Mike passed away suddenly on January 14, 2024 in St. Lucia, doing what he loved- cruising.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Gail, son Don (Arlene), daughter Akemi (Francis) and 5 grandchildren: Naomi & Zachary; Joshua, Nadage and Olivier; brother-in-law, Richard and wife Linda, nephew Stephen and niece Kristy.
Mike was born and raised in Vancouver. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy and spent his time on numerous ships including HMCS Antigonish, Chaudiere, Fraser, Mackenzie, and Oriole, to name a few. He proudly served his country for 32 years retiring as CPO2. His hobby was woodworking and after retirement, he took the Fine Furniture Design Program at Camosun College and made lovely pieces of furniture for his family and friends.
Mike & Gail loved to travel, especially on cruise ships but also land trips. They travelled to 6 continents enjoying the culture and interesting sights. They made many new friends during their travels.
He will be remembered for his leadership and organizational skills, kindness and generosity and his great sense of humor. May fair winds and calm seas folllow him.
