In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
PASULA, Al (Spanners) - It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Al on July 4, 2024. He was born in Camrose, AB on May 15, 1943. Formally of Hay Lakes and Edmonton, AB and Esquimalt, Brentwood Bay, Sidney, and most recently of Pitt Meadows, BC. As a young man, Al joined the RCN, serving on HMCS Ottawa and HMCS Saskatchewan, of which he commissioned and HMCS Stettler. After leaving the Navy, Al became a transit operator for ETS (Edmonton) and BC Hydro (BC Transit) Victoria for 39 years. He achieved a number of safe driving awards and was a member of the Million Mile Club for safety. Al was never short of a good joke and funny story. His infectious laughter left a mark with everyone he met. Al played many years of old-timers hockey for the Peninsula Primetimers. His passion switched to golf. Playing golf, watching golf and talking about golf. He really enjoyed his trips to Arizona and Mazatlan, Mexico.
He was predeceased by his father Peter (1966), his mother Mary (2011), his sisters Linda (1998) and Gladys (2009) and his brother-in-law Maurice. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 56 years, Nettie (nee Spilchen), son Peter (Celina), grandchildren Diego and Carlos, sisters Sylvia Ozubko and Eileen (Bob) Hamilton, nieces and nephews.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated St. Luke's Catholic Parish in Maple Ridge on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 11:00 am, Rev. Edwin Kulling, Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations welcome to the BC Children's Hospital or Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation. (The Victoria Times Colonist 13 Jul 2024)
