In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
HUTCHINGS, Alexander (Al) - With immense sadness, we announce the death of Alexander Hutchings ('Al'), in his 96th year, on December 31, 2023. Husband of 67 years to Wendy (née Simpson); father of Jeffrey (predeceased), Stephen, Roslyn (predeceased), Julia (Brian Montgomery), and Jamie; and grandpa of Alexandra. Al's modesty, grace, and concern for others formed the core of his character, always guiding him to do what he felt was right. Born in 1928 in Sunnyside, NFLD, Al was training with the UNTD in Halifax when he met Wendy in 1955. Three years later they moved to Orillia, ON, where he taught high school at ODCVI and raised their family. Al retired in 1986, but remained active and curious throughout his life.
