TEMPLETON, John A. G. (Ike) - With heavy hearts, we share the news that John A.G. Templeton of Qualicum Beach, B.C. passed away on December 9, 2023, aged 89 years, at Parksville, B.C.
John was born in Calgary. He joined the Canadian Navy as a teenager and served during the Korean War. John later joined CP Rail and worked in Calgary, Medicine Hat, Edmonton and Vancouver during his long and successful career. He retired and moved to Vancouver Island, and enjoyed his lengthy retirement, filled with golfing, fishing, taking long walks, and reading.
John is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Joan; sons Kevin (Gwendolyn) and Brad (Rita); granddaughter Alexis and grandson Conner; and brother Al. John was predeceased by his father John (aka Jack), his mother Jeanne, his sister Betty, and his brother Dick.
The family wishes to express gratitude to the caring staff at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, 3 West, and especially to the compassionate staff and volunteers at both the NRGH Palliative Care Unit, and to Trillium Hospice Palliative Care in Parksville.
At John's request, there will be no memorial service. If family and friends so desire, donations in John's memory may be made to Oceanside Hospice Society or The Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund.
