SHELLEY, William Henry, AB A/AAIII, V35255, RCNVR, MPK - 22 Feb 1943, HMCS WEYBURN - Son of John T. and Ellen Shelley, of Calgary, Alberta.

 

AB Shelley died when his ship, HMCS WEYBURN, struck a mine in the Mediterranean and sank with the loss of 12 of her crew.

 

William's brother Ralph Thomas Shelley was lost at sea from HMCS VISON 21 Dec 1940.  William's brothers, Henry Alfred Shelley and Robert Shelley also served in the RCNVR.

HMCS TECUMSEH - Enlisted 06 Feb 1942. Commenced Active Service 23 Mar 1942 as an Ordinary Seaman, RCNVR

HMCS CORNWALLIS - Drafted to CORNWALLIS 07 Sep 1942
