GAUDET, Joseph Leonard - of Nictaux South passed away at home Monday, September 20, 2021 in his 97th year. Born in Little Brook, May 19, 1924, he was the son of the late Lezin and Emelie Gaudet. He served in WWII at the age of 16 in the Royal Canadian Navy on the Corvettes Baddeck, Cobalt and Huntsville. After the war, Leonard worked at the Dept. of Highways from 1949 to 1984 retiring as shop supervisor and served as local president of the 1867 CUPE. Leonard enjoyed much of his time fishing at his camp on the Mollys. He spent countless hours rescuing stray cats and continuously caring for them in his garage. Leonard is survived by his daughter, Carol (Bill); sons, Robert (Sherry), Paul, Mike, David, and Allen (Julie); grandchildren, Tanya, Billy, Colby, Garett, Melissa, Stephanie and six great grandchildren. Leonard was predeceased by his first wife, Betty (Bourneuf) and second wife, Dora (Doucet). Cremation has taken place. At Leonard’s request there will be no service. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
