STUART, Lionel Everett, Sto 1c, A2648, RCNR, MPK - 26 Mar 1941, HMCS OTTER - son of John M. and Violet Stuart, of Lockeport, NS; husband of Delta Doris Stuart, of Ingomar, NS.

 

Lionel was born March 05, 1914 in West Green Harbour, Shelburne County; he perished March 26, 1941. He was drowned, along with 18 others, while serving with HMCS Otter when at 08:30 hours an explosion and fire resulted in the naval boat sinking outside of Halifax Harbour. Lionel was the son of John MacDonald and Violet (Scott) Stuart and had six siblings: Verna, Gertrude, Alina, Pryor, Charles and Elmer. He married Delta Doris Snow of Ingomar, Shelburne County on June 26, 1937 at the Holy Cross Rectory, Lockeport. They had two children, Maxine Ruth and John Lawrence.
