Died: 29 Jul 1996, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

 

BROOKS, William Richard - 64, Halifax, died July 29, 1996 in Victoria General Hospital.

 

Born in Cobalt, Ont., he was a son of the late Reginald and Lottie (Moore) Brooks.

 

He retired from the Canadian Armed Forces after 25 years of service.

 

He served with numerous divisions of the CAF and CFB Stadacona.

 

He served on the Magnificent and Bonaventure and with the Stadacona Band, Cornwallis Band, RCR Band, London, Ont., and CFB Gagetown Band.

 

He taught at School of Music, Esquimalt, B.C. and Royal Marine Band, Kent, England, after obtaining a degree from the Royal Conservatory of Music, London, England.

 

He retired with the rank of CPO, CD, LRAM, and was a member of Chief's and PO Association in Halifax and Victoria, B.C.

 

Surviving are his wife, Madonna (Steele); son, Bill, Halifax; daughters, Debbie, Calgary; Carolyn, Duncan, B.C.; sister, Shelia (Mrs. Bill Timmons), Kirkland Lake, Ont.; brother, Walter, Calgary; several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place.

 

Family will receive friends 1-2 p.m. Thursday, with memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. Thursday, both in Snow's Halifax Funeral Home, Windsor Street, Rev. Ellen Wilson officiating. Burial to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
