SIMONS, Clinton Le Roy, Ordinary Signalman, 4639, RCN MPK - 13 Sep 1942, HMCS OTTAWA - Son of Roy and Martha Merle Simons, of Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
Signalman Clinton LeRoy Simons of Swift Current was the son of Roy and Martha Merle Simons who homesteaded northwest of Neidpath and later moved to Calgary. Clinton was a student when he enlisted on July 15, 1941 as a boy signalman at Regina, Saskatchewan.
Signalman Simons died when HMCS OTTAWA H60 was torpedoed and sunk by U-91 on 13 Sep 1942. Of her crew of 175, plus 50 survivors they had picked up, there were only 69 survivors.
