CAVANAGH, Robert Ansley, Able Seaman, Combined Operations, V6678, RCNVR, killed - 19 Aug 1942, HMS QUEBEC - Son of George Austin Cavanagh and Barbara R. Cavanagh, of Ottawa, Ontario.
Able Seaman R. A. Cavanagh was one of seventy-one men of Combined Operations; R.C.N.V.R. took part in the Dieppe raid, August 19, 1942. One officer and 3 sailors died at 03:47 hours (that day) in the Channel, they were killed in a fiery exchange with a small German convoy. He was buried in the Dieppe Canadian War Cemetery, Hautot-sur-Mar, Seine-Maritime, France.

Its is not known which landing craft OS Cavanagh was serving in when he was killed.
