BROWN, Brock - age 76 of Dartmouth, passed away on Monday, August 5th, 2024 in Dartmouth General Hospital. He was supported by family and friends over the last number of years and will be fondly remembered.
Brock was born April 21, 1948, in Saint John, New Brunswick the second son of the late George A. Brown, and Eileen (Brock) Brown and grew up in Bedford, Nova Scotia. After receiving his formal education, he joined the Canadian Army (regular) in 1967 serving with the Royal Canadian Dragoons and following remuster to the Royal Canadian Navy on HMC Ships Bonaventure and Saskatchewan. Honorably released in 1972 he worked in private industry joining the Federal Public Service with the Department of National Defense (DND) in 1979. He retired in 1998 as a senior civilian logistics officer with Formation Logistics, formerly Base Supply, HMC Dockyard, CFB Halifax.
Brock was predeceased by his spouse, Donna Marie Landry; sister, Ann (Stephen) Onyett, Lewiston, New York; brothers, Derek (Margaret) Brown, Toronto, Mark (Martha) Brown, Bedford; parents, George A. Brown and Eileen (Brock) Brown, Bedford.
He is survived by in-laws, Anne (Richard) Acton, New Glasgow, Claudette (Frank) Carmichael, Fall River, Armand (Margaret-Ann) Landry, Arichat, Adrian (Janet) Landry, Hammonds Plains, Thomas (Nora, deceased) Landry, Arichat, Guy (Jennie) Landry, Arichat; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A special thanks to the nurses at the Dartmouth General Hospital and family physician, Dr. Finlay Spicer for their efforts on his behalf. Also, thank you to all the staff at Oceanview Manor for their support.
A funeral service will be held at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 3534 Highway 2, Fall River, on Saturday, August 17th 2024, at 11:00AM. Cremation has taken place. Reverend David Chapman will be officiating with reception to follow in the adjoining church hall. Committal of the ashes to the deep will take place at a later date. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Brock’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
