NOËL, Mario - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, Mario Noël, at the Tracadie Hospital on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at the age of 64. Born in Lamèque on July 23, 1960, he was the son of the late Etienne A. Noël (2003) and the late Majella Chiasson (2006). He lived in Shippagan. He is survived by his four sisters: Edith (Eymard) of Pointe-Alexandre, Claire (Jean-Eudes) of Shippagan, Sylvine (François) of Miscou and Chantal (Roger) of Anjou; three brothers: Adolphe (Johanne) of Montreal, Jean-Marc (Gracia) and Rhéal (Jeanne D'Arc) of Shippagan; his goddaughter, Anne-Karine de Beauharnois; his other nephews and nieces: Gaëtane, Rémi, Yoland, Marie-Josée, Sonia, Patrick, Guillaume and Ariane, as well as several great-nephews and great-nieces, as well as his many friends. We cannot forget his dear little therapy cat, Virgule, whom he loved dearly. Besides our parents, he left to join his brothers Armel and Gaëtan and a nephew, Philippe. Mario served in the Canadian Navy as a Master Seaman and is also survived by his many brothers in arms, veterans with whom he carried out numerous peacekeeping missions around the world. He has helped so many veterans over the years that they will miss his contribution greatly. He has received several distinguished decorations including: – A Canadian Armed Forces medal for serving more than 28 years; – A Canadian medal for its UN peacekeeping missions; – A Special Service Medal (SSM), this medal recognizes members of the Canadian Armed Forces who have performed service in exceptional circumstances, in a clearly defined locality, for a specified period of time. – A Medal for Service in Southwest Asia for Direct Support to Military Operations Against Terrorism (Gulf War). We cannot ignore the excellent care that Mario received in the last days of his life. We would like to sincerely thank the neurosurgeon at The Moncton Hospital, Dr. Anthonios El Helou, and the intensive care nurses for their great professionalism and compassion. Our thanks also go to the end-of-life care team at the Tracadie Hospital who were able to gently alleviate the suffering of our dear brother for his last day of life. There will be no visitation at the funeral home or funeral. His family will gather at a later date to celebrate his life. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Haché Funeral Home in Shippagan. info@mfhache.ca (506)336-237
